FCA board receives updates on examination program enhancements and agency innovation
McLEAN, Va., Oct. 8, 2026 — At its informational meeting today, the Farm Credit Administration (FCA) board received updates on the future of the Office of Examination Workgroup (PDF) and FCALabs (PDF).
Enhancing FCA’s examination program
The Office of Examination (OE) provided an update on initiatives of the future of OE Workgroup, which was charged with evaluating changes to the office’s organizational structure and examination process. The workgroup reported on identifying ways to refine the agency’s examination processes, improve examiners’ access to information, facilitate examiner development, and strengthen its information technology examination capabilities. It is also evaluating super intelligence (SI) and other emerging technologies to support OE’s examination work.
These efforts are intended to enhance examination quality and consistency and better align resources with the risk and complexity of System institutions. Together, the initiatives will strengthen risk-based supervision as the Farm Credit System continues to evolve.
Advancing innovation through FCALabs
FCALabs develops and facilitates ideas for tools [A1] to improve general productivity, examination tools, and agency operations. By turning promising concepts into practical solutions, FCALabs helps advance the agency’s mission and enhance the effectiveness of FCA’s work.
Through collaboration across the agency, FCALabs has made progress on several initiatives, including developing SI tools to improve data accessibility. In 2027, FCALabs plans to launch additional innovation projects and continue working across the agency to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
