FCS Diversity and Inclusion - PROPOSED RULE - MARCH 2011

Dear Mr. Van Meter,
My son and I went to a local farmer's market just last week in our small town of Tomball Texas.  It was small, but it was wonderful to have the choice of locally and organically grown vegetables for our family to eat.  Someone also had farm fresh eggs.  We rent a house and we are not able to plant a garden and have chickens, so I depend on others to produce the kind of product I want to buy.  We are a lower middle class family and I love to buy organically grown fruits and vegetables, free-range chicken eggs, and even meats that are feed and raised in a concious way... yet those healthy options cost much more.  When these products are grown locally, it is a win-win situation for everyone.  The product is more reasonably priced, I can support local growers and producers, and I can support us all living on this earth in a balanced and more harmonious way.

Thanks for your time, Michele Macias
