Dear Mr. Van Meter, In order for the FCS to better serve the public, more emphasis must be put on small to mid-size local and regional farmers. These farmers should have a place on the FCS board and lending and business support products appropriate for these sized farms should be available. Overall, continuous efforts to promote local and regional farmers success should be a priority. This will help to ensure food sovereignty and reduce dependence on fossil fuels by reducing transportation costs.
