FCS Diversity and Inclusion - PROPOSED RULE - MARCH 2011
Dear Mr. Van Meter,
I buy from a local CSA and as someone who consumes organic local food I would first like to thank you for this opportunity to share my thoughts on the way the FCS can help small and local producers. I feel that any such scheme should take into consideration the following.
1. Define transparent standards to identify eligibility. 2. Commit a sizeable amount of capital to the producers. 3. Advertise this opportunity using traditional and new media. 6. Adequately staff and train personnel to provide these services. 7. See how helping more than one local entity can lead to a system that is more than the sum of its parts. For example, consider helping a local fruit grower with a vegetable farm, etc.
