FCS Diversity and Inclusion - PROPOSED RULE - MARCH 2011 Dear Mr. Van Meter,
Please make loans available to small farmers who can get their produce to nearby consumers. Short distances greatly reduce air pollution and green house gas production. You need not loan money to producers of meat. Efficient trucks, especially if fueled by natural gas reduce air pollution and green house gas production.
In some cases, consumers may labor on the farm part time or full time. This is ideal. Maybe getting less privileged people or unemployed people from center city to the farm is the best way to spend money. Many such people may be able to work at least a couple hours and at less intensity than the illegal migrants we use in the southern San Joaquin Valley.
