FCS Diversity and Inclusion - PROPOSED RULE - MARCH 2011 Dear Mr. Van Meter,
I am writing to let you know how vital local food is to our community. Locally grown food from small to mid-size farms is critical to our health as a community and, ultimately, our nation. I have cured virutally all of my "lifelong" illnesses through access to this local market. I am one person who does not use the "healthcare" system as I have no need. Through outreach programs, we can educate the public on making better choices which will ultimately result in dramatically less illness. Big food has puts billions of dollars in to marketing food to us that is making our nation the sickest of all industrialized countries. Without financial support, natural, locally grown food will never reach our children and we will continue to set records on healthcare spending among our peers. I suggest to you that we have missed the boat on wellness and have set records with regard to illness.
