My husband and I are small local farmers in southwest Washington. We have been hampered many times by trying to find funds to expand our farm offerings by the limitations of our local banks who don't understand farming, and because of the FCA policies, unable to apply for funds through them.
Put simply, please put some effort into making it easier for we small farmers to be part of this system. The best way to do this is to develop lending and business programs that support regional food producers, like us. Especially programs that help us come under local regulations, like animal processing and dairy regulations, which right now are prohibitive in price for us to enter.
