FCS Diversity and Inclusion - PROPOSED RULE - MARCH 2011
Dear Mr. Van Meter, We are writing to express our belief that the Farm Credit Administration (FCA) needs to work to bring the badly needed capital to local and regional food system farmers. We certainly hope you are focusing on diversifying the FCA loan portfolio. We also hope you are planning to conduct outreach to local and regional food producers. Obviously, the public should be able to read about FCA outreach plans and periodic progress reports in their local newspapers. We hope you are sincerely committed to adding local and regional food producers to the FCS board. (Why wouldn't you be?!) We also hope you are planning to provide staff development training to FCA personnel, including lending, accounting, farm transfer and business planning services appropriate for serving local and regional food producers. People OF ALL AGES directly benefit from food that is grown and transported to nearby citizens. Mr. Van Meter, kindly share our concerns and recommendations with ALL members of the FCA Board.
