FCS Diversity and Inclusion - PROPOSED RULE - MARCH 2011 Dear Mr. Van Meter,
Without farmers wer are unable to eat and survive. Most American's depend on the large grocery chains to supply their daily meals. Instead of giving money to the large corporate farms that have million dollar revenues, please consider givine more subsidies to the smaller farmer. This is a dying art that is important for our health and survival. I tyr to buy as much produce as possible from my local farms and the farmer's market. The food is so much fresher and ripens on the vine instead of on a semi from California to the east coast. Please make it a requirement that each FCS institution create a baseline analysis of producers who meet the farm bill definition of local and regional food producers by number of borrowers, by loan volume, and other key characteristics.
