Barry F Mardock Deputy Director Office of Regulatory Policy, Farm Credit Administration 1501 Farm Credit Drive McLean, VA 22102-5090
Dear Mr. Mardock:
I'm writing this letter in opposition to the Farm Credit System (FCS) petition against giving a voice to their member owners (say on pay) and in support of the Farm Credit Administration's (FCA) final rule adopted last October.
FCS's objection leads me to the question, why? It indicates to me they don't want their member "owners" to know what is going on, again, why? If I were a member owner I would want to know or have the ability to know any aspects of the business I own.
I applaud FCA for trying to impose at least some transparency on the Farm Credit System. FCS is already a government sponsored enterprise that has lost it's purpose for which it was created and needs to be reigned in and scaled back to it's original purpose.
If the FCA backs down now under pressure from FCS, their creditibility as a regulator will be tarnished. I sincerely hope that the FCA will stand it's ground on this issue and keep the rule in place.
Thank you for allowing me to comment on this matter.
