FCS Diversity and Inclusion - PROPOSED RULE - MARCH 2011
Dear Mr. Van Meter, I'm writing you this note to encourage the FCS to fiscally support regional, small-scale food production. When local growers are supported both in their home towns and nationally, local economies will prosper, land health will improve and neighbors will be eating food that's safer and tastier without taxing the environment.
In our community I've seen a huge growth in the number of people who are now supporting local farmers markets. I've starting growing food in my own backyard as well, and appreciate the effort that goes into growing healthy crops. I know several young farmer's who are struggling to make ends meet, doing everything they can to stay in business. Their voices need to be heard. I hope that they are afforded the opportunity to be members of your board.
