Subject: FCA Risk Management Symposium
We hope you are making final plans for you and your staff to attend our symposium on “Successful Ag Lending: Accomplishing Your Mission in Stressful Times.” The symposium will take place May 24, 25, and 26, 2000, at the JW Marriott hotel in Washington, DC (202-393-2000). We have arranged a special room rate for you of $130 per night. Additionally, we have extended early registration for the symposium from April 1, to April 10, 2000, so that you can receive the $50 discount.
You will find the symposium agenda enclosed. It includes a description of the breakout sessions, list of distinguished speakers, and names of the expert panelists who will address and discuss the mission-related responsibilities of the Farm Credit System and the agricultural risks facing farmers and ranchers today. Invited speakers, such as U.S. Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman, U.S. Representative Charles Stenholm, Ranking Agriculture Committee member, Senator Robert Bennett, Chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Financial Institutions, and Dr. Gene Swackhamer, retired President and CEO of the former Farm Credit Bank of Baltimore, will address recent legislative developments regarding farm support programs, discuss the legislative agenda for this upcoming session, and the role and responsibilities of the System. Recognized experts will discuss the agricultural risk management tools, including the most recent enhancements, and address how lenders can provide effective help to borrowers during these stressful times. Each session is designed to provide time for and facilitate discussion on issues of importance to you.
We invite you to visit FCA’s web page (www.fca.gov/pubs/symp_frame.htm) for more information and to register on-line. As more information becomes available, we will post it on our web page.
Registration ends May 20, 2000, or when space is no longer available so register soon. Dress preference for the three-day Symposium is business casual.
