Subject: Informational Memorandum--Fraudulent Certificates of Deposit Identified by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency


The Farm Credit Administration (FCA) is distributing a copy of OCC Alert 97-5 issued recently by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). This OCC Alert provides information regarding fraudulent certificates of deposit issued by Mitsubishi Trust & Banking Co. Finance Corp. and fraudulent drafts issued by Mitsubishi Finance Corp. Mitsubishi Trust & Banking Co. The New York City Office of Mitsubishi Trust and Banking Corporation, a large multinational financial institution headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, has advised that it has no relationship with the subject entities.

The Mitsubishi Trust and Banking Corporation's New York branch office requests that it be contacted if you have information regarding these instruments. The OCC Alert lists its telephone and facsimile number. An address and telephone facsimile number at the OCC is also provided for reporting information about either of the financial instruments.
