Subject: New Communities Entering the National Flood Insurance Program

The attached listing identifies communities that have entered the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) during the period January 1, 1998, through January 31, 1999. These new communities represent areas where flood insurance was previously unavailable. Included are those communities entering the following programs:

· Emergency Program — initial phase of a community's participation in the NFIP providing a limited amount of insurance coverage; and

· Regular Program — the phase of a community's participation in the NFIP where more comprehensive floodplain management requirements are imposed and higher amounts of insurance coverage are available.

Additionally, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has recently revised the Standard Flood Hazard Determination Form, FEMA Form 81-93. The form is used for determining whether real property offered as collateral on a loan is located in a special flood hazard area.

A copy of the revised form and instructions are attached. The form may be reproduced and is also available from the following sources:

The revised form replaces "FEMA Form 81-93, Jun 95." Use of the new form may begin immediately. The outdated form should not be used after April 20, 1999.
