Subject: Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act of 1940


In view of the activation of U.S. military reserve personnel and increased military enlistment activity, the Farm Credit Administration (FCA) is sending this Informational Memorandum as a reminder that certain provisions of the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act of 1940 (SSCRA) may affect your institution. In general, the SSCRA postpones or suspends certain financial obligations to enable members of the military who are on active duty to devote their full attention to the defense of the United States. The FCA issued an Informational Memorandum dated November 26, 2001, titled Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act of 1940, to provide guidance on provisions of the SSCRA. A copy of that Informational Memorandum is attached. For further reference, the text of the SSCRA is available on the Internet at:
